History

Rookbeare is sheltered by a hill with a rookery on top.

There has been a farm here since Domesday and before. It is in the parish of Stockleigh English, so called as the lands were given to an Englishman for changing sides after 1066 and joining the Normans.

The Marsh family arrived in 1983, at first to run a herd of Jersey cows and in 1988 started making ice cream. We had great fun selling at summer festivals such as Glastonbury and Womad for a few years and then decided to try and reach a larger audience by supplying shops with retail tubs. Now in 2011 our products are available from the best food retailers nationwide.
